Job 14:5 “Since his (Humanity) days are determined, The number of his months is with You [in Your control], And You (God) have made his limits so he cannot pass [his allotted time].
Psalm 139:16 Your (God’s) eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Matthew 6:27 And which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span? (The words of Jesus)
Here, we have three passages of Scripture that clearly tell us that EVERY human who has ever lived, lives ONLY the amount of days God has appointed them. Which means that God is indeed sovereign over ALL affairs of nature and life. Knowing this, does it mean that we should live foolishly or reckless? Of course not, it simply means that God is omniscient and knows the beginning from the end of all things. Whether we believe this to be true or not, every human life is in the hands of God. Which means that we do not have ultimate control over our lives. We may indeed make choices, both wise and foolishly, but the outcome belongs to the Lord. In this we would be wise to believe in, for whose hands better to be in.
Now, I am a man who takes great delight in weight-lifting and exercise. However, I don’t approach my diet or training with the mindset of prolonging my life. I push myself with a vision of quality of life, not quantity of life. Well knowing that I could have the best diet, and in better shape than a person who neglects their body, and still die before they do. With this mindset, I could never be disappointed, because I lived each day with energy and enthusiasm, until my days come to an end. For God controls my life, and in Him alone I trust.
Now, the purpose of this blog is focused on the current condition of our world. With COVID-19 bringing unbelievable amounts of fear, worry, and anxiety, perhaps these words of Scripture will bring encouragement and refocus. Sadly, we are in a godless world, that lives in fear without faith. Foolishly following what sinful people say, while completely ignoring what a perfect and holy God says. We are commanded in Scripture to live lives of honor and thanksgiving unto God for the life that He has given us, but scarcely do we see this in our world. As a whole, we are far too busy feeding our own ego’s, and praising ourselves. As for me, I am a firm believer that EVERY word from God (within the Bible) proves true, for God cannot lie. Therefore, if He has appointed all the days of my life, how could I possible change that outcome? If God has decreed when and how I would die, I am left with entrusting my life to Him alone. If I am to be killed for being a Bible believing Christian, then so be it. If I am to die in a car accident, house fire, home invasion, so be it. And if God has determined that I would die from the COVID virus, I will die, whether vaccinated or not. For a vaccine is not sovereign over life, God alone is. I will trust the sovereign Lord with the outcome of my life, NOT a vaccine, a government, a system, a community, or the like. And I believe any true Christian would do the same. Trust in God, not humanity.
Psalm 146:3-4, 3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. 4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. 5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
Live a life of faith, not fear.
