Colossians 3:1-3, 1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

I will be the first to admit my sin over the last few months, in terms of not setting my eyes on heaven and eternity. I have become totally engulfed and frustrated in the depraved condition of today’s U.S. From a backstabbing corrupt government, to Covid-19, to riots and protests (BLM), and gay equal rights marches. As a Christian who stands on the side of biblical truth, theses immoral behaviors and beliefs have consumed my thoughts and indeed stolen my joy in the Lord. Therefore, I cried out to God to remove this unhealthy attraction and restore unto me the joy of my salvation, and He was quick to answer. As I began my quiet-time this morning with the Lord, the above verses jumped off the page and hit me between the eyes. Deep conviction set in because my eyes had not been fixed on the Son. I asked for forgiveness and strength to remain steadfast on eternal, corruptionless heaven, as I find my refuge in Christ alone.

As Christians, we should never be surprised at the wicked condition of our world. God in His great grace has revealed this spiraling out of control in His holy Scriptures. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the world has lied to us, we aren’t evolving upward and advancing. This world is becoming more and more debased in every thought and action. They openly call evil good and good evil. They call true love hate, and true hatred love. If the professing Christian can’t see the depths of depravity in unsaved humanity, they are clearly blind.

But, there is One Hope, One remedy, and that is Jesus Christ. As Christians, He alone is our only hope. So, we fix our eyes on heaven, where Christ is, and eagerly await the great day of His coming. A day when He will gather in His chosen ones and bring them into safety and splendor. Therefore, if you have been like me, and have expected better out of fallen humanity, STOP. We do not put our trust in man, nor earthly governments, but in Christ alone. For He alone will NEVER fail us. May our eyes be set on the Son.
